We popped in here last night after getting off the DFDS Ferry from Dieppe. The Magic Wok was the only Chinese Takeaway listed in Newhaven and was, according to Google, open, so in we went.
We ordered Vermicelli Noodles and a Special Foo Yung/Egg Fried Rice. Cost - £15.90 which is fairly average for a Chinese Takeaway these days.
Went we went to eat the food, it was truly disappointing. My Special Foo Yung largely consisted of fried Egg & Onions and my partner's Noodle dish - just that: noodles!
In addition, in mine, there were a few bits of chicken, I got about three shrimps and would you believe it - spam; although there was not much of that either! Where was the rest of the chicken, where were the prawns, where was the pork and beef; and where were the mushrooms???
You are unbelievably tight fisted with your ingredients and for what we got, we can only assume that you made at least £13 out of the £15.90 as pure profit.
People be warned before you spend your money here - you will be ripped off!
Well I wouldn't bother again. Most bizarre, unrecognisable food and taste. I ordered chilli chicken, it was more like chilli carrots. The special fried rice was dry.
My husband ordered chicken red Thai curry with egg fried rice, again rice dry and we'd call it carrot red Thai curry.
The vegetable spring rolls had no filling and tasted like sage and onion stuffing.
I certainly won't be ordering again. Yuk yuk yuk
