A Fantastic Halal Indian Restaurant in Colchester I came across Mahrani Indian Restaurant while staying in Colchester with my family. We had travelled from London for a few nights to enjoy the beach and explore the town, and while looking for halal food options and somewhere to find a good curry for the children, I came across Mahrani. What appealed to me most was that their menu is fully halal, which made choosing somewhere for the whole family so much easier. I ordered a few different dishes and was pleasantly surprised to receive a 10% discount, as well as a complimentary dish from the chef. I later found out that the staff and owner are from a Bangladeshi background, like myself, which made the experience feel even more personal. I honestly cannot praise the food enough. Everything we ordered tasted amazing. The lamb biryani was perfectly spiced, with incredibly succulent and tender meat. The tandoori chicken platter was cooked perfectly—juicy, well-seasoned and not dry at all. Most importantly, my children absolutely loved the food, which is always a big win when dining out as a family! The customer service was also exceptional. The staff who served us were incredibly welcoming and friendly and genuinely made us feel right at home. 10/10 for customer service. It was also really nice to see a Bangladeshi-owned business thriving in a town like Colchester, and discovering that connection made our visit even more special. I will definitely be visiting Mahrani again the next time I’m in Colchester, and I’ll happily recommend it to friends and family. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic and fully halal Indian food with excellent service, I’d definitely give Mahrani a try. 10/10 from me and the family! Thank you, Razia and Family. Last night we decided to order an Indian takeaway from Maharani Indian Restaurant, and wow… what an amazing choice! We ordered King Prawn Pathia, King Prawn Tikka Masala, lemon rice, and a couple of other things — every single item was absolutely delicious! The flavours were rich, perfectly balanced, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had! The gentleman from the restaurant who delivered our food was very polite and friendly, and the delivery service was excellent Next time, we’ll definitely be visiting the restaurant in person as it clearly offers fantastic food and great service. Highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £60–70
