We visited Malai on Saturday night and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. On arrival, the owner initially did not recognise our booking and told us we didn’t have one. After some time, his partner eventually located it, but by then we were asked to wait — which ended up being around 45 minutes. This immediately set a frustrating tone for the evening. When we were finally seated, the service felt rushed. Our order was taken quickly without much attention, and during this time the waitress mentioned that the owner regularly overbooks the restaurant. This was evident, as at least one other couple was also left waiting alongside us. After raising our concerns, the owner offered a 10% discount as a gesture of goodwill. However, this was not honoured when the bill arrived, which added to the disappointment. Overall, the lack of organisation, poor communication, and failure to follow through on what was promised made for a very underwhelming experience. Sadly, we will not be returning. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Price per person: £30–40
