Great location, spacious room and lovely staff – just a shame about the second breakfast We stayed at Malmaison Dundee for two nights in room 206 and overall had a really enjoyable stay. The location is probably one of the hotel’s biggest selling points – it’s literally across the road from Dundee train station, which made arriving with luggage incredibly easy. Our room was modern and spacious, with plenty of storage, a mini fridge, safe and tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was enormous, with both a full-size bath and a separate shower, which was a real plus. There were a couple of quirks. The floorboards were very creaky and we only had soft pillows available, which won’t suit everyone. There was also, rather strangely, a mirror directly opposite the toilet behind the bathroom door – certainly an interesting design choice! The staff were a real highlight. Every member of staff we came across was genuinely friendly and helpful. At one point we accidentally ended up going down the fire exit stairs and were happily guided back to where we needed to be. We were also part of a group of around 30 people and I thought the bar staff handled such a large group extremely well. Breakfast was unfortunately a tale of two mornings. We went down at around 8am on Saturday and it was great. The continental selection was well presented with pastries, including Malmaison pain au chocolat, fresh watermelon and honeydew melon, cereals, probiotic drinks and plenty of other options. We also ordered Eggs Benedict and boiled eggs from the hot menu and really enjoyed them. The coffee machine didn’t offer mochas, so I settled for a flat white instead. Unfortunately, Sunday morning was a very different experience. We went down later when it was considerably busier and the Eggs Benedict both looked and tasted poor, with some eggshell left in the dish. Had breakfast not been included in our stay, we would have raised it at the time. We appreciate it was much busier than Saturday morning, but the difference in quality between the two days was significant. Despite that, we’d happily consider staying again. The location is incredibly convenient, our room was spacious and comfortable and the consistently friendly staff made a very good impression.

We had a day at Perth races, this was an invite via my husbands work. The hotel was paid for by them - as was the whole day to be fair. We just paid for our bets at the races and our pizza after on the way back to the hotel The hotel is beautiful, I love a nice staircase they have them! The bed wow! Pillows, topper, quilt so comfortable! The rooms are modern, the bathroom is beautiful and modern too. Decor is nice. There is a good amount of sockets in the room! Always good information I think Breakfast today was CHAOS. There are a lot of Italian people in, not sure if this is for the kilt walk or something else that’s going on. The continental breakfast area was small and crammed. People pushing past. Just ride, the rudeness clearly isn’t the hotels fault but maybe worth looking at a system to book a time for breakfast. I wasn’t fighting for a pastry so just opted for some brioche french toast. This was lovely. (Later found out the Italians were on a tour and always arrive on time in mass for breakfast, this would have been great info ) The hotel is in a great place for whatever reason you chose to stay in Dundee. The shops are a quick walk away, the train station is about 2 minute walk away if you’re heading to Edinburgh/ Glasgow or anywhere else ‍ There is a tesco along the waterfront. The discovery is nice to go and see, the science centre is close by, slessor gardens often have concerts or events in. There is the card hall for concerts too. There is an abundance of bars and restaurants within walking distance too. In my pics you can see a big blue bus, this is from an event in slessor gardens so you can see how close this is. Another pic is the discovery and Starbucks, always good info if you love your Starbucks. The train station isn’t far from there. There is building works across the road, we didn’t hear anything day or night but we were here on a Saturday so unsure if it is as quiet during the week. That won’t last forever anyway. And of course I took some pics of the stairs. And the art work of a local hero in our room

Thank you for your detailed review of your stay, it sounded like a good day at the Races. I am glad you enjoyed your stay, The tour groups don't usually have a set time for breakfast just coincidence they all arrived at the same time. Hopefully we will see you again in the future.
