We visited The Mermaid Inn for Sunday lunch. The food was very good. It was a pity at first they didn't want to provide a vegetable side with the Salmon fillet. Although it was good. We weren't sure why we didn't receive a little bread and butter as all the other tables had. It appears only one person could take a food order and the other staff, drinks and water. It appears a bit disjointed in the restaurant. A close table were asked if they wanted any sauces ect halfway through the meal.

We stayed here for two nights. A real fabulous hotel, atmosphere was great. Every room had its own quirk and history.staff were very frindly. Food was really good and served piping hot. Would definitely recommend a visit...

We booked Sunday luncheon here on an extremely busy weekend in Rye. On arrival we were shown to our table which was beautifully laid out. White table cloths and napkins the full complement of glasses and gorgeous crockery. We were given our menus and water as we were seated. for such a decadent restaurant the menu was incredibly good value 2 course £30 and 3 £35. We opted for two course and all had starters and mains however there were some delicious sounding desserts even ones that I could eat even with my dairy allergy!! Unfortunately for me too full to attempt My friends had the starter of mackerel which they both said was lovely and I had the vegan option of baked leeks. The balance of the confit black aioli complemented the leeks that were wrapped in nori perfectly. Our Sunday lunch was also perfectly cooked my friends having the pork and myself the lamb that was a perfect pink. This Sunday lunch is such good value, the service immaculate so much so I would highly recommend it above any other pub or restaurant in Rye for Sunday lunch. Great job team Mermaid
