Getting the pros out of the way, as they are few, the cafe has a great location if you're on your way to town, and has plenty of space inside and out for customers. The coffee is also not half bad.
The food, however, is dreadful. First of all no cafe has any business having so many items on their menu, I counted upwards of 40! Having had a decade of experience in kitchens myself, this is a ludicrous expectation to be churned out of what appeared to be a very small kitchen (the kitchen is semi-open and can be seen from the dining room).
Naturally, as soon as I saw just how many different items were on the menu, I prepared myself for the worst, as I knew what was coming. A plateful of food cooked from frozen.
Which is exactly what I received. Dry, tasteless bacon that was clearly the cheapest money could possibly buy. Deep fried sausages that tasted like they would be more at home in a chippy coated in batter than being served up on a £9+ breakfast. Mushrooms that had been fried within an inch of their life, unseasoned. Beans that had been sat warm in a hot unit, and were also clearly the most inexpensive and thus tasteless.
The only saving grace of this "breakfast" was the black pudding and hash browns, but if I'm being honest any cafe that is unable to get those staples right has no business being open.
To top all of this off with an amusing anecdote, after I had finished what I could stomach of my disappointing plate, I watched with a mix of horror and hilarity as a member of staff returned from the Lidl next door with bags filled with produce. You are being charged a premium for items that you can literally go next door and buy yourself.
This is daylight robbery.
