Meze Turkish Restaurant, Darlington Restaurant Week Dinner, 2 Courses for £15 3 Courses for £20 The Venue & Atmosphere Perfectly located near the Hippodrome and Main Railway Station (and right next to a car park—ideal!), Meze is a beautifully presented gem. The interior is traditional, warm, and cozy. Even with every single table full, the "buzzy" atmosphere didn't drown out our conversation. It’s that rare spot that feels alive but still lets you actually talk to your friends. The Menu & Service Meze kept their Restaurant Week offering concise, which I personally love—it means they can focus on high-standard execution. Absolute stars. They were incredibly accommodating with my health requirements, kindly allowing me to swap a dessert for an extra starter. The Pace: Spot on. We felt relaxed and social, never rushed, but never waiting. The Star of the Show: The Lamb Skewer I need a separate paragraph for this because it was an absolute triumph. I’ve eaten some of the world’s undisputed best lamb in Inner Mongolia, and I’m telling you: this skewer holds its own on that global stage. Massive, beautiful chunks of lamb, perfectly grilled with the fat rendered throughout to unlock maximum flavor. Explosively juicy, tender, and packed with seasoning. It isn't just "good" restaurant food; it is some of the best-tasting, most perfectly prepared lamb I have tasted anywhere in the world. A must-order. The Hummus and Turkish Garlic Sausage were the perfect opening acts—fresh, authentic, and "super tasty." I’ll be back without hesitation to tackle the full menu and, more importantly, to get back to that legendary lamb. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a casual dinner, Meze is highly recommended.
