You’ll spot this busy bakery in Callander, just up the road from owner Tom Lewis’s other ventures (Mhor84 and Monachyl Mhor) by the long queues outside. The good news is they move quickly and this is bread and other snacks worth queueing for. Lots of people are after takeaway too, so it’s relatively easy to get a seat at the large communal table in the side room. Both the steak & black pudding pie and the mac & cheese pie we tried were good – and the sandwiches I didn’t have room for looked excellent, freshly made on crisp rolls with plenty of filling. There’s good Illy coffee and delicious huge crisp meringues to have with it too. Tucked into the charming town of Callander, Mhor Bread & Store is the kind of bakery that makes you wish your tour bus had a flat tire—just so you’d have more time to linger. My wife ordered a sandwich to take away for lunch later on our tour, and it was so good it became the unofficial mascot of our trip.
