This place is like a mom & pop restaurant you’ll find in small town Japan. It is run by a wonderful couple and the food has authentic touches. You can also taste the kombi/bonito broth in the miso soup. The teriyaki isn’t just sweetened soy sauce glaze, it actually has flavour! The tempura is out of this world - delicate, and the batter is not greasy or thick. Sashimi was fresh and sweet, not bland and they even have fish flown in from Japan. Wagyu too but we didn’t try it. Don’t expect large North American servings but for us it was just enough. The decor is older but clean. Will be back! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CA$20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The good... Got the sashimi moriawase and the fish was great without having to pay an arm, so that was pleasantly surprising. We normally don't order sashimi in TO because of this - I would have given 4 had it not been for the bad... The bad... Ordered the cod misozuke as well, which was about the size of my 3 fingers width and depth . It was puny and pitifully hilarious in the small take out box. Perhaps they felt that too, and placed a leaf beside it to fill up the space, but this did feel a bit insulting? It felt more like a complimentary item than a dish that costed $16.50. No rice either. I'm not sure if the sizing was due this being an Uber Eats order, which will give you a 20% discount, but even with the discount, it definitely still didn't justify. They're pretty slow in terms of service (as noted with the other comments), so order with ample time ahead! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CA$50–60

My partner and I had a great dinner experience at Miyabi Japanese Restaurant. The restaurant is run by Chef Arasaki, who was working behind the sushi bar. The waitresses at front of the house were excellent, providing a warm welcome and ensured all guests were well taken care of. Each piece of sushi and hand roll was made to order and was very fresh. As there was only one person making the sushi, the food may take a bit longer, but this ensures the freshness and quality of each dish. This is not a restaurant for a quick bite but rather an enjoyable dinner out. We certainly enjoyed our experience here and would recommend those looking for a delicious sushi night to come to Miyabi.
