We met some friends in the bar for dinner (same menu as in the restaurant). The food was good; steaks were all cooked as requested. Nothing really stuck out as being exceptional though. The drinks were quite pricey.

We came as a large group for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night, So as such the 18% automatic gratuity is added to the bill. I have no issue with this as there's always some tightwad in the group that's planning on piggy backing your tip. However when a server recognizes the tip is locked in and pays far more attention to the other tables around I don't appreciate it.We all arrived on time over a period of 10-15 minutes, The first 3 that showed up were given a cocktail while they waited, But the remainder of the group waited 10 minutes to even place a drink order. The drinks were put in and we ordered a few appys to start and our steaks at the same time. Our first round of drinks came out right before the appetizers did. Around 20 minutes from being seated. The only appetizer ordered were a few plates of the steak tartar. It came out with 2 soggy pieces of crostini that had been drenched in oil and as it was grilled got some of that burnt oil smoke on it. The tartar itself was good, albeit ground not chopped, But only having 2 pieces of soggy bread to eat this rather large portion of ground beef left us all confused and further more why there was a strawberry salad on the plate? Anyway I wasn't impressed in any way by this and sadly its one of my favorite dishes.The steaks came out just as you'd expect in a steak house. Cooked perfectly and warm enough. But the plain potato and 2 microscopic carrots really didn't make for an exciting plate. It really brought down the meal from a night out to just having a steak at home. On the plus side I really enjoyed the half price wine bottle special they have going on. $15 for a decent bottle of wine in a restaurant is something I can always get behind.Overall it wasn't much of an experience, as a kid I used to love the moose factory. It was always a special night out. This was nothing of the sort. The lackluster service because of a guaranteed tip is no way to treat any guest. The let down from the strange tartar "salad" and finishing with a perfectly cooked steak with the plainest presentation possible. We all left disappointed and likely wont be back. Every steakhouse in the city can do a better job than that and likely cheaper to boot. except for the wine.The tools are all there, the restaurant is beautiful, one of the best in the city, the steaks are quality meat and they come out properly cooked. it seems like they settled into mediocrity and decided this is good enough.
