Food was good (brunch) can’t vouch for other dishes Portion was good Price was ok - comparable to similar places Venue inside very nice, open kitchen is a lovely Location is near Oxford Circus so convenient Service was where I felt could have been better. Everything else was fine before and during - After our meal we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else or another drink. The water jug that was on the table got taken away so felt like we had to leave. We would have gotten some sweet treats if we were asked but went somewhere else nearby afterwards. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Mortimer House Kitchen is just one of those places! Consistently good, a happy and attentive team and great food. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £40–50 Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend

The service is great here and the food is OK. We had the northern Italian tasting menu, and I came in with big expectations as we love Italian food. It was a bit disappointing. The starters were great, but then the duck Ragu didnt have the depth of flavour I expect from a ragu, and the Cuttlefish and Polenta really lacked a depth of texture and was just a nicely flavoured mush. The service was great, wine pairings were nice. I would advice the owner and/or head chef to remind their chefs that its an open kitchen and everything they do is being watched by customers. I personally like to watch what they are up to, unfortunately I saw one of the side chefs taste a dish then put the same spoon back into another dish and stir it. I also notes a couple of times one of the chefs sqeezing something out of a plastic bag into a sauce pan, unfortunately it looked a bit like the duck ragu coming out of the bag. The pasta seemed fairly fresh on this dish, but the rest didnt. We came on a Friday at 19.30 and the place was barely half full. Unfortunately wouldn't personally recommend, especially based on £70 each tasting menu. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £70–80 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
