AMAZING vegan fish & chips and great value for £10.99! I was so satisfied. It was my first time trying banana blossom and it was quite similar to jackfruit. In the past we have always ordered takeaway from Mr Chippy as they fry in vegetable oil rather than beef dripping, and we used to think their chips were usually up amongst the best in York in terms of taste. However I’ve noticed the portion sizes over the years are getting smaller and smaller with our most recent order portions verging on the pathetic, especially when price is considered. I realise it’s a tough time for food and hospitality businesses, but Mr Chippy is pretty expensive compared to many other local chippies. At the same price point, one could have a decent sit down meal in a pub. I think the reduction in portion sizes is excessive and frankly stingy. Also the chips were definitely undercooked the last couple of times we have ordered. I’m thinking we need to find a different go-to chippie for future treats.
