Absolutely shocking food worst meal I’ve had there and I’ve been there many times. It was as if they just didn’t care because it was busy. Crispy beef was cold limp cut up strips of undercooked meat not fried or crunchy as it’s meant to be and the salad was drowned in a shop bought generic sweat chilli sauce so much so it was like soup. The burger meal was an embarrassment, a dozen chips (I counted them) a tiny pot of coleslaw to accompany a dry brioche bun cut in half with a rock solid brick of meat In between and that’s it for £17. My wife had the fajitas well they were obviously so rushed and didn’t care that they just poured the Mexican seasoning on top of some fried beef last second and sent it out. It was just absolutely caked it seasoning powder to the point it made your eyes water if you ate a peace. We went there for my birthday treat after work and we had planned to stay till last orders but after being so disappointed and having to send all the food back with no apologies just the “I’ll let the chef know”comment from the waitress we finished our drinks and left less than an hour later. Very disappointed as I know you can do better that’s why we came in the first place. We spent £100 to basically have 4 drinks and some pate (which was very nice but I’d guess it’s bought in) no discounted meals offered despite sending 90% of the Meal back (I ate the chips as I was hungry) or any real apologies. Grovenor You can do better, sadly it’ll be a while before I try here again. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £50–60

So, first we went to another local restaurant, which didn't have a Christmas dinner ready at lunch time the first day of offering. Anyway, we thought we'd try and get in Nelson's, even though we knew it would be quite busy. The car park was quite full, but even though we had come in two cars, we found parking and went in. Christmas lunches were in full effect and the dine area was full and we couldn't get a party of three until 90 mins later. However, we could sit and be served in the lounge straight away, so we did that. We had the turkey dinner pictured and it was delicious, lots of food and everything was cooked to perfection. The gravy was lovely too. We then had a chocolate and toffee cheesecake for dessert and that was also delicious and a decent portion with a little scoop of ice cream. The staff were great and our waiter had an attention to detail I wasn't expecting. Overall I would recommend highly. My preconceived thoughts were it's going to be pretentious, but it really wasn't.
