Ocena przewodnika Michelin

Wybór Michelin.

There are now Nobu restaurants stretching from Dallas to Dubai and Mexico to Melbourne, but this one was Europe’s first when it opened back in 1997. Like seeing a favourite popstar on stage, you can expect all the greatest hits, from seafood toban yaki to rock shrimp tempura and, of course, the dish that’s been copied a thousand times: black cod miso... I forgot to take any photos, but as always, Nobu London (Old Park Lane) was simply outstanding. When it comes to Nobu, expectations are always high, and once again they were exceeded. Impeccable service, exceptional cuisine, an outstanding sashimi selection with incredibly fresh fish, and a uniquely prepared snow crab that was one of the highlights of the evening. The excellent sake selection and a perfect cup of coffee to finish made for a truly memorable dining experience. A big thank you to the entire team for another wonderful evening. We will definitely be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £100+

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and I do not think it justifies the price. The restaurant eventually removed the 15% discretionary service charge after I raised my concerns, which I appreciated. However, the overall dining experience was far below my expectations. I ordered the £125 Signature Omakase, but the pacing of the meal was extremely slow. I was seated at 8:30pm and did not leave until 11:00pm. The six-course menu took well over 2.5 hours to finish. Each course was only a few bites and took just two or three minutes to finish, yet I was then left waiting around 30 minutes for the next course. After the first two courses, there were roughly 30-minute waits between each course. As I was dining alone and each course only consisted of a few bites, I spent far more time waiting than actually eating. I would also like to mention that calling this menu an “Omakase” is somewhat misleading. Having experienced traditional omakase in Japan many times, this felt much more like a standard six-course tasting menu than a true omakase experience. The dishes were pre-determined, the pacing lacked the interaction and flow you would normally expect, and it did not resemble the omakase dining experience found in Japan. Guests expecting an authentic omakase should be aware of this. I would like to give credit to the service staff. They were polite, professional and attentive throughout the evening. My water glass was constantly refilled without me having to ask, and they remained courteous throughout the meal. My disappointment was not with the front-of-house team, but with the overall pacing of the meal and the dining experience. The atmosphere was also a major disappointment. The restaurant was extremely crowded and noisy, to the point where I could barely hear the staff explaining each course. For a restaurant charging these prices, I expected a calm and refined dining environment. Instead, it felt more chaotic than many casual Japanese restaurants I have visited, which completely took away the premium dining experience. In terms of the food, I found it very ordinary. The sushi was particularly disappointing. Having travelled to Japan many times, I honestly felt the quality was no better than many inexpensive sushi restaurants, and in my opinion it was below the standard I expected at this price point. The Black Cod was the highlight of the meal, but just above average, although diners should be aware that it contained bones. The dessert was also ok. Unfortunately, several dishes were unbalanced. The non-alcoholic lychee drink cost £12 was also disappointing. It looked nice, but it was mostly crushed ice. After just a couple of sips, it tasted more like diluted water than a proper drink. The soy sauce in the first course overpowered the flavour of the caviar. The salad in the second course had a noticeable bitter taste. The sushi was below standard. After 30mins wait. I was concerning about the quality of them. The final beef course was excessively salty. At over £160 per person including the discretionary service charge, I expected one of London’s best Japanese dining experiences. Instead, I left feeling that I had paid for the Nobu brand rather than exceptional food, service or atmosphere. I could only give them a price about £50. I could choose much better restaurants with what I had paid. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it. To be honest, I would rather have a £15 bowl of ramen than spend over £140 on this experience. At least I would leave feeling satisfied. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £100+ Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
