It was our first experience in paddinton’s pump for breakfast,. Food was good, the restaurant was quite busy , but we got our food fast, two of the waiters who served us were not friendly and respectful with us and also with other customers . We had breakfast at Paddington's Pump in St. Lawrence Market and overall, I'd still come back for the food. The place was quite busy, so we ended up sitting at the bar. Since it's a working station, there was quite a bit going on around us. Water would occasionally splash into my space, and there was a bucket with cleaning cloths and Lysol spray sitting beside me. At one point, a staff member sprayed one of the cloths and some of the mist landed on my leg. It didn't bother me much at the time, but these are little things that could easily be prevented to make the dining experience more comfortable. The washroom was clean, which I always appreciate, although the door doesn't open all the way, so you have to squeeze yourself in. As for the food, I ordered the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. I'm usually not a fan of maple syrup, but theirs was surprisingly delicious and tied the whole meal together. I also had a mimosa. I think it may have been made with fresh orange juice (though I'm not certain), and it was refreshing and enjoyable. The restaurant itself has a cozy, old-school diner feel that adds to the experience. One thing I'd recommend, though, is sitting inside if you can. The outdoor seating is right by an area that unfortunately smelled strongly of urine, and it wasn't the most pleasant atmosphere for a meal. Overall, despite a few preventable issues with where we were seated, the food was genuinely good, the restaurant has plenty of charm, and I'd definitely come back.
