Paysan goes from strength to strength - and rightly so. They serve carefully chosen and astonishingly good wines at very reasonably prices. The staff are great and, even when it's busy (as it nowadays almost inevitably is), the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and relaxed. Want beer etc. rather than wine? head upstairs to The Cave Of The Curious Gnome instead. And, either way, you're going to want to buy their offerings at excellent take home, takeaway prices, so you should go next door to buy your favourites from Gnome And Away at very competitive prices. For a frequent visitor to Chester . Lunchtime visit this time the food was very tasty and served hot ,we had time to catch up with family with a couple of bottles of wine with no pressure from staff to move on ,these guys work so hard . A great place to unwind and find the gnome inside us all . Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
