A crackin wee hidden treasure! Got myself a breakfast roll, and some pies for later. Lovely atmosphere and super friendly, the nice woman behind the counter had no issues telling me about every single thing they had when I asked. What a selection!!!!! We visited Penny's Pies, Helston on Monday 30th December and purchased two steak and ale pies and two steak and stilton pies. We had read a lot of positive reviews of this supplier and we were really looking forward to trying some of their food. We decided to eat the steak and ale first but were genuinely shocked at the strong taste of the filling. Neither of us could eat the pies and they ended up in the bin. The meat content was O.K. if a little sparse. It seemed to be shredded rather than in chunks but it seemed tender. However, the "gravy" was so strong and salty that it ruined the whole pie. The next day we thought we would try the steak and stilton as a lunch dish. Sadly, these were no better and they were soon transferred to the bin. We wasted £18.00 buying these pies and cannot fathom why our experience seems to be so far away from that of others. Were the pies old and dried up from the period before Chridtmas? We wouldnt have thought so but have no other explanation for their extraordinary strong taste. We are not fussy eaters and like salty things but these pies were on another level. One of us likened it to sucking an OXO cube! Sorry to be so negative but we feel obliged to state these facts. Since writing the above a further post has appeared that seems to have come from Pennys Pies. However, I would like to point out that whoever wrote this reply has given a phone number that simply doesn't work. It is not a valid telephone number. It may not be the owner of Pennys Pies but to anyone else reading the reply it would appear to be a genuine attempt at making amends. Apparently it is not. I am not looking for compensation of any kind and accept that the awful food I was served may have been a one off. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 1

Hi - I’m sorry that I have only just seen this review. I am very sorry that you were disappointed. The best course of action would be to contact us directly and I would have been able to refund and replace immediately.
