It was a really welcoming place and the view was amazing The chicken with the carrots and the cheesy potato at the side with gravy was ok. The chicken was a bit on the dry side. Liked the presentation. The gravy was good and so was the potato with cheese Then I got the mousse which was delicious with it being light even being a chocolate dessert and the cream on the side. Loved it. Service with the staff was also nice Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20

Despite booking well in advance for my birthday, we were seated at by far the worst table in the house - Right in front of the hot, noisy open kitchen, across from one another at an oversized table which made it hard to hear, and impossible to hold a proper conversation. I'd have asked for another table, but the restaurant was full. The staff were all perfectly lovely, but the position of our table made it such that we couldn't relax and chat at all, as they were constantly walking back and forth right next to us and making eye contact due to my seating position. Unfortunately this soured my birthday celebrations a bit, which is disappointing as previously I've given Pier Eight 5 stars. It feels quite unfair to see others given booths, window-views, and comfortable banquette seating when you're relegated to the uncomfortable small chairs and weird giant table by the kitchen, but you're paying the same price! Food was okay, not as good as our last visit. The carrot beignets were simply not beignets at all - More like pakoras, which felt a bit cheap. Unfortunately that entire dish was quite flavourless and watery, which is a shame because the other vegetarian options we had were decent. Unfortunately this experience has made me not want to return any time soon as it felt anxiety-inducing and unwelcoming. Not what one expects from pre-theatre dining. Price per person: £100+ Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1

Probably one of the nicest, friendliest, and delicious restaurants I've been too. Me and the Mrs came here before going to a show in The Lowry and we were not disappointed what so ever. Firstly, the staff are super polite, friendly, well mannered, and professional. From the moment we walked in we was greeted with smiles and pleasantries. This continued throughout the entire meal. Also, the staff are trained to know about all the shows, times doors open and shows start etc, and they will make sure you are not late to the show. We was actually gunna finish our meal early (about 45 mins before the show started) because we just assumed once we had our main then the desert would be right out. But the member of staff (i think his name was Rob) told us we have time and if we would like to just rest before desert then we could do that. Which we opted to do. So yeah, super helpful aswell. Secondly, the place looks amazing. So modern but without loosing any class. Super clean and tidy. Well spaced tables so you're not squeezing past people's chairs etc if. Really well organised. Lastly, prices. You just want complain really. It's 2 courses for £30 or 3 for £35. (This was at the time we came so double check prices online) Even the drinks were well priced. I was actually shocked, I was expecting to pay ALOT more. Especially with the quality of the food, which was just AMAZING. I will 100% recommend the Pier Eight Restaurant and I really hope to go back again some day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
