I ordered samosas from Pooja Sweets in Cardiff, and while I was really looking forward to their delicious taste, unfortunately, I received uncooked samosas. It was a bit disappointing. I hope they improve the quality next time.

Delightful Indian vegetarian small eatery, eat in or takeaway. Authentic tasty food & beverages ranging from meals to snacks & some supplies for home cooking. Also an extensive dessert range. Proprietors very friendly, efficient and overall a relaxing atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

I usually come here to buy Indian sweets, and while the staff have never been particularly friendly, I’ve never minded, I normally just get what I need and leave. However, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. As someone of South Asian background, I felt genuinely mocked for my appearance. I asked for palkova/khoya, which I’ve bought here many times before. I was told they didn’t have it, even though it was clearly on display and I recognised it immediately from previous visits. The staff member then turned to a colleague and said something in Hindi/Urdu in a mocking tone, after which they both laughed and gestured towards me. It was obvious I was being made fun of. They continued speaking to me in Hindi despite it being clear I didn’t understand, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. This is a shop based in Wales, basic communication in English should not be an issue. To make matters worse, the staff member eventually put the correct sweets in the box but then added extra items I did not ask for and pressured me into paying for them. I felt put on the spot and uncomfortable challenging it at the time. There were also serious hygiene concerns. The same gloves used while handling curries were used to pick up the sweets, which I only realised when I got home, the sweets tasted strongly of curry. On top of that, I also found a hair in the box. It’s incredibly disappointing, as this used to be my go-to place for sweets. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won’t be returning.
