It’s been troubled times over the last decades or so , with so many pubs and pub chains closing down every week . Many of the old pub chains that I grew up with have now completely disappeared and so many Pubs have now sadly disappeared for ever. I love this place and am delighted it is still going strong. What a lovely building it is. I recall it being a bit of a dive at times in the 1980’s when there were several incidents that involved people punching each other and the police being called . Those days have gone and it is currently a lovely place to come. You could not think of anything more traditionally British than the name “Greene King”. Well it is but just like the famous British MG car company it has now been taken over by a very well off Chinese company. The Chinese have astutely invested and improved many of their Greene King premises resulting in the Punch House having an excellent refurbishment a few years ago. I absolutely love the decor here. It is lovely clean and tidy and very pleasant. There are some lovely pictures on the walls including a number of humorous ones too. I also particularly enjoyed the unique historical references and have taken some photos of them. I work for a local charity and our members are neurodiverse and have learning disabilities. We can cause chaos wherever we go at times . However, I would like to praise the staffs patience and genuine kindness and friendliness towards us. It’s so lovely to be treated in a respectful and unpatronising manner. The manager appeared to be leaving as we came in but nevertheless gave us a friendly welcome. Not all of us ate here but those that did find the food to be good ,okay, pub fare and to be reasonably priced. I really liked the outside area too. I really like this place and above all would like to praise the management and staff here and I wish you every success in combatting these difficult financial times. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
