Located on Queen Street near Bathurst, Ramen Isshin offers a quieter option compared to the College Street location. The layout is narrow with limited seating, which concentrates dining to a smaller space but keeps the area easy to navigate with bathrooms in the back. Been here for the last few years, and the food has been consistent in quality! Their physical menu is focused on drinks and dessert, while the cover page has a QR code to scan to their website for the ramen. Their ramen has a variety of flavours and customizations available. The Chicken Karaage appetizer was fairly delicious with tender chicken and a flavorful coating. The White Sesame Shio offers a hands-on element, allowing customers to grind sesame seeds directly into the broth. The Asari Light Shoyu is pleasant, and the pork belly chashu is among the better pork options that we have tried. A signature option, The Stone Bowl Shoyu Kotteri Tsukemen, is served in a hot stone bowl with the soup brought separately for dipping, delivering a rich, filling experience. Also in a recent trip, the addition of Yasai Shio Ramen, a vegetable-forward option with a double broth and subtle seafood notes, was refreshing and lighter in protein, complemented by the addition of sweet corn, with their base of wood ear mushrooms, cabbage, and bean sprouts. The classic Shoyu remains a reliable choice for traditional flavours. Also, their homemade Ginger Ale is so delicious that we get it every time! Staff are attentive and prompt, routinely asking about allergies and offering customization. They check on tables and refill water glasses without prompting, and the payment process is smooth with credit card. The restaurant configuration supports a mix of two-person tables, several larger groups (four-people) toward the back, and a small bar area, allowing for flexible seating for roughly 20–30 guests in total.
