Popped in here for some drinks, nice bozzer with a lovely beer garden, had a few in the beer garden as it was a lovely hot day, never had any food but what I saw from others around us it looked like nice food. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £1–10

Called in to shelter from rain. An interesting old pub, with old probate registers lying around. One book for 100 years ago, recorded estates valued from £1 to over £3k! Three real ales on tap.

During a day trip to York I had lunch and a drink in the Red Lion. This oak beamed pub claims to be one of the oldest in York. It has a central bar serving 4 separate areas leading off it, with a mix of hard and carpeted floors. It also has a large outside drinking area, parts of which are covered. 3 cask ales were available, a blonde, a bitter and a dark mild. The Rudgate mild I drank was very nice and at £4.90 a pint reasonable. For lunch I had Fish fingers (Goujon) and tartare sauce on ciabatta with chips and salad, which I enjoyed and it good value at £9.95. The pub is dog friendly. Recommended. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: £10–20
