I visited Romneys for a meal and I want to start by saying that the waitresses and bar staff were excellent. The service from the front-of-house team was friendly and attentive, and I have absolutely no complaints about them. Unfortunately, I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but what happened with my food was extremely concerning and, in my opinion, needs to be taken seriously. I ordered a chicken burger and, thankfully, decided to cut it in half before eating it. The chicken inside was completely raw. Had I not cut into it first, I could quite easily have taken a mouthful of raw chicken and potentially become very unwell. I am genuinely shocked that something like this was allowed to leave the kitchen and be served to a customer. Raw chicken is not a minor issue — it presents a very real food-safety concern, and customers should be able to trust that the food being served to them has been properly cooked. I appreciate that mistakes can happen, but this was not slightly undercooked chicken; it was visibly raw in the middle. It makes me seriously question the checks being carried out in the kitchen before food is sent out. As I said, I cannot fault the front-of-house staff at all, but I am extremely concerned about the standards and food-safety procedures in the kitchen. I hope Romneys investigates what happened and takes the necessary steps to ensure this cannot happen to another customer.
