Staff here is literally so unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. Came here with my friend to watch the world cup semi final, and first a man who wasnt even the owner approached us very aggressively asking to see our IDs without even clarifying why. After me asking about it, he then tells us we have to buy drinks or leave because its really rude which might be true but I had no idea that was a part of sports game pub etiquette, i asked him why?? Because again i dont know about the etiquette and if its the same at every pub, and he acted like Id attacked him personally. I mean honestly, in the time he was yapping away and we were going back and forth, because me and my friend were literally so confused, he couldve just said ‘Hi, Hope youre having a good time. I was just wondering if you know about our rule that you have to get a drink if you want to watch the game, for alcoholic we require ID but we have non alcoholic drinks as well.’ The reason i didnt purchase a drink was because i dont drink alcohol and i didnt know they had non alcoholic ones too but after that interaction why would i want to give you my money??? So not sure what he thought he was accomplishing. Another watcher infront of us asked why we had to buy a drink to watch the game and he also began arguing with him. Then another member of staff approached us and asked if we’re buying a drink or leaving and i said leaving, and he said “leave then” yes just said that mate. Just shocking honestly to speak to two young girls minding their own business watching the game like that. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I visited the Rookery on Friday with my friends for a few drinks, having had a great experience there the week before. Unfortunately, this week was polar opposite. It started off when I ordered a pint of Estrella, which tastes off (whether it was bottom barrel or something else, I don’t know). I calmly and quietly let the bar staff know, as to not cause a scene. I was then interrupted by the Manager/Owner who downright refused there was anything wrong with the pint. Instead, he told me it was probably something i’ve eaten which is conflicting my pallet. Begrudgingly he poured another pint of Estrella which tasted the same. I was accused of making the whole thing up, yet he refused to try the drink for himself to prove otherwise; stating he’s too busy and doesn’t have time to talk to me. A pint of Peroni was poured for me in the end, not before the Peroni was poured in a shot glass, because incase “I didn’t like it”. I have never faced so much disrespect from such an arrogant and rude individual. Fast forward 1-2 hours, and he kicked off at my friend because he kindly helped bring some empty pint glasses inside, stating he has no right to help him, and that his help is futile because he did not wash the glasses. I can honestly say, we will not be visiting this establishment again whilst this individual is still there, and I will be sharing this experience with my wider circle. Absolutely disgusted and mortified. Service: 1 Price per person: £40–50
