Made a last minute booking at Root in Wells, and from first call u til we left the service was exceptional! The food was beautiful, one of my favourite meals in a long time. We bought a nervous pup with us and staff made sure we had a table in a corner with space and made sure she had water. The personal recommendations from the staff were spot on. Absolutely stunning experience!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We are so glad we stumbled across this place while having a mooch around Wells and managed to book a table. I always love it when the kitchen is part of the restaurant, so this was an instant win for us. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout. We loved the tapas-style approach of ordering multiple dishes to share, although we probably ordered a few too many for just the two of us! The menu was so enticing that we simply couldn’t resist. The dishes arrive as and when they are ready, and we really enjoyed this staggered approach. It definitely helped us keep going after ordering as much as we did! Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. There wasn’t a single item we regretted ordering. The olive oil served with the bread was something else! At the end of the meal, although we were full to the brim, we knew we had to try a dessert, purely based on how incredible all of our savoury dishes had been. We shared one between us and were not disappointed. If we return to Wells, we will definitely be returning to Root too. Highly recommended. Having visited Root Wells twice now it has solidified itself, in my opinion, as one of the best restaurants in Somerset Despite the small plates, each dish proved itself to be a little shining star cleverly designed by Root to include flavours that compliment each other. Although the restaurant itself is extremely modern, the service and atmosphere certainly didn't feel intimidating. Our server was beaming with smiles and laughter, and advised that the menu changes practically daily with the produce that is on offer. Each visit has been 10/10, I would highly recommend a visit in such a great location in the centre of Wells. I'll certainly be visiting again.
