Have been to Spry a few times and it never disappoints. The food is amazing with lots of different and unique flavours and the wine selection is great. Also love that you can order coffee from downstairs (ante) and buy a loaf of their super tasty sourdough. A favourite in Edinburgh for sure! Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve been to Spry Wines before with my mother and had a wonderful time the staff were lovely and the experience was such a pleasure. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to after my visit last night. Unfortunately, we were spoken to in a condescending way that left me really uncomfortable, to the point I was almost in tears. I understand it’s a natural wine bar and that bottles are available to be opened, but after asking for a few recommendations, the first server rolled her eyes and spoke down to us. Another member of staff then took over and was equally dismissive. It was disappointing, especially given my previous positive experiences. When the bill came, there were a couple of glasses missing, which we hadn’t realised and we were made to feel as though it was somehow our fault. As someone who also works in the service industry, I really value kindness and professionalism and sadly that was missing this time. I’ve always enjoyed Spry and Ante as well but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be back. Maybe it was just an off night, but it completely changed the way I feel about what used to be one of my favourite spots. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
