Disappointing customer experience I recently bought a cake from Cake Box Barking and spent £16.99. At the till, I asked for a normal carrier bag and was told that the only bag available was a £1 bag. I explained that I was looking for a basic carrier bag, which I would normally expect to cost around 30p to 40p, but I was told that Cake Box does not provide this type of bag and that the £1 bag was the only option. Personally, I found this disappointing. In the current cost of living situation, being expected to spend an additional £1 on a bag when purchasing a £16.99 cake feels unnecessary, particularly when a basic, cheaper carrier bag would have been sufficient. It made me feel that customers are being pushed towards buying the more expensive bag rather than being given a reasonable lower-cost option. I hope Cake Box will consider offering a simple, affordable carrier bag option for customers who do not need or want to pay £1 for a bag. Not everyone will be happy to spend an extra £1, especially when they have already made a purchase. The cake itself was not the main issue. It was the unnecessary extra cost and the way the situation was handled that left me disappointed with my experience at the Barking branch. We usually buy our cakes from here and it’s always really nice. But this time bought off the shelf and tasted really bad and the cake wasn’t fluffy almost like it dried out felt disappointed
