The fried pork chop was excellent—the outer layer was perfectly crispy, while the meat inside was tender and juicy. The environment was clean and tidy, and the service was very friendly. You can really tell the owners take pride in their food and maintain high quality. It was a truly enjoyable meal in York. Price per person: £10–20 Recommended dishes: Tonkatsu Set

This is such a lovely restaurant with an incredibly friendly team. We realized too late that we didn’t have any cash on us, but the staff was so helpful—they walked us through ordering online so we could pay by card instead. It took us way longer than it should have to catch on (oops!), but they stayed patient with us the whole time. The food was everything we hoped for: fresh, delicious, and surprisingly affordable. We left feeling full, happy, and definitely planning a return trip. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went to Shiitakeya on a random Monday as it looked very cozy. The lady who served us was very polite and happy to serve us. Ordered the Pork Katsu Curry and it was one of the best I ever had, paired with a side salad and miso soup. My Girlfriend had the beef ramen which was delicious as well. Highly recommended and will be returning 100%. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Tonkatsu Curry, Steak Noodles
