I'm particular about pubs (and a born pub dweller) and this is home from home. Great ales, amazing food (I'm generally a wet customer but do get peckish; also I've found it to have food so good it will bring your marriage back from the rocks ). Always great service and a warm welcome. Do go, whether local or from afar. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes

What I recieved bore no relation to it's description on the menu. I'd ordered the beef Nicoise salad, which was described as coming with green beans (as a Nisoise should) with grilled aubergine and courgette. My dish came with hot beef, warm broccoli, a poached egg, no aubergine, beans or courgette. In fact it wasn't a salad at all. As we were on a family reunion I didnt like to make a fuss but quietly told the serving staff when she cleared the plates. She went to the kitchen and came back with an explanation that, even though we'd pre ordered a few days before, they didnt have any green beans (a principle ingredient), and the aubergine and courgette had been put onto the wrong plate! I did recieve an apology but absolutely no offer of compensation. Poor customer relations I thought Price per person: £10–20

We enjoyed a lovely family Christmas lunch at The Ship. The food, drink, service and atmosphere were wonderful. We will return again as it is our favourite pub for family get togethers. Thank you to The Ship Inn, Brimscombe.
