Always walking by this place and thought they had a nice outdoor patio. Finally got to check it out with a few of my friends. Other than the couple of spiders crawling on us, I’m assuming they are coming them down the tree lol. May have slightly panicked. Service was good and overall had a great time. Would definitely come back again. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30

Most spots here flirt with being gentrified but land somewhere between student crash pad and forgotten pho joint. Then we saw it a handwritten sign offering Negroni flights and $12 cocktails, like a siren call for bitter-lovers. We were in. What Was Ordered Negroni Flight (3 styles, including a Coffee Negroni): The coffee one slapped bold, bitter, smooth. Like if an espresso had a fling with an Italian bartender and left you with full custody of the mood. House Wine (for the friend): Decent. Didn't punch above its weight, but played well with the vibe. Second Negroni Flight: Yes, I doubled down. No, I regret nothing. Service Commentary Our server was fantastic present without hovering, quick with the refills, and patient when I needed a moment to mourn the end of my Negroni flight. Service was smooth, warm, and way above the neighbourhood’s usual "good luck getting noticed" standard. Vibe Check Shrinking Violet hums with a kind of intimate tension—it’s small, snug, and not the spot for introverts hoping to disappear. Groups will struggle. It’s the kind of bar where you will overhear someone’s breakup... and maybe become emotionally invested. Mostly locals, mostly cool. It’s got that elusive "regulars-who-aren’t-jerks" energy. The Space Itself It’s artsy without being obnoxious vintage plates on dark floral wallpaper, flickering candles, and a glowing glass ceiling like the dome of a mildly haunted planetarium. One room feels like a Victorian study. The other? A cozy blue dream. But make no mistake: it’s tight in there. If you're not down to vibe elbow-to-elbow with a stranger who smells like bergamot and philosophy, rethink your plans. About the Neighborhood Bloorcourt is a jumble of old grit and new weird. Shrinking Violet doesn’t just survive here it thrives. Amid vape stores, corner shops, and the occasional sidewalk preacher, this place feels like a speakeasy built by art students. Subway close, bikes chained to everything, and at least one dog that will stare into your soul. It’s not for everyoneand it doesn’t try to be. If you’re looking for space to stretch out or a bar to disappear into, keep walking. But if you want a Negroni flight in a room full of strangers who might just become stories, you’ll be right at home. Just maybe don’t bring six friends and a birthday cake.
