Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to read your comments, as they do not reflect the full circumstances of your visit. Your booking was originally made for 9:00 pm and, although we advised that our kitchen closes at 10:00 pm, we still accommodated your party in good faith. You eventually arrived at 9:54 pm, just 6 minutes before closing, and despite this, our chef stayed behind to freshly prepare your food. The Gold Shovel is recommended for 4 people, whereas your party consisted of 5 adults. We therefore do not feel it is reasonable to criticise portion size in those circumstances. We also maintain consistency in the preparation, quality, and temperature of our dishes. In addition, the Gold Shovel does not contain meat. As clearly described, it includes fish, prawns, crab, and squid rings. Your review also omits the squid rings that were present, which makes the description of the dish incomplete and misleading. We also question the claim that the food was cold, as it was freshly prepared and the dishes were eaten in full. Although this was only raised at the end of the meal, it gave us little reasonable opportunity to address the concern at the time. We were also surprised that the service was accepted throughout the visit, yet a one-star rating was later given, which we do not feel is a fair reflection of the overall experience. The photos shared also appear to show the food after, or midway through, being eaten. Many of our customers share photos of our shovel dishes at the point they are served, which gives a clear and fair representation of their presentation. In this case, no such photo was shared, and we believe that a photo taken when the dish was first served would have given potential customers a more accurate impression. We always welcome genuine feedback, but we do not believe this review fairly reflects either the food served or the service provided on the night.
