The sourdough spelt bread I bought on farmer's market on Gabriola, was absolutely delicious! Reminded me an old traditional Bavarian or Ukrainian bread ( even so, those are made from mostly rye flour), dense ,with distinct fermented notes. I was very pleased!

I found Slow Rise Bakery on Google Maps and decided to check it out — and I’m so glad I did! The staff were kind and welcoming from the moment I arrived. I got two scones and two types of cookies, and every single one was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t stop eating them! If I ever come back to Gabriola Island, I’ll definitely be visiting again. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
