Visited for an evening after an awards event. Found the staff friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was good with just the right amount volume of people. Drinks were mainly fridge drinks. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £10–20

Went to this bar last night for a special goodbye drinks to meet friend as I'm leaving London after 3 years here. Our friends already had a table downstairs and the bouncer wouldn't let my friend and I in for absolutely no reason. He told me to call my friend to come to the door which I did and in the few minutes that I was waiting for my friend he aggressively questioned me 4 times about where my friends were, what their names were, what countries they were from etc. Completely irrelevant questions. While we were waiting he told us we wouldn't couldn't go in after after initially telling us we could go in if our friends came and got us. We finally managed to get in as two of our friends left and he let us in to take their place even though there were spare seats for us at our table downstairs. I complained to the bar manager who was really not bothered at all and said that the bouncer was trying to prevent too many guys from coming in... despite the bar being on the main street of the gay area in London. The manager said she would speak to the bouncer but I'm certain she only said that to please me. If I owned that bar I wouldn't think twice about firing that guy. Soho Residence is a nice place but our night and perception of the bar was absolutely shattered by the aggression and disrespect shown to us but he bouncer for absolutely no reason. We were nothing but polite upon arriving, hadn't had any drinks at all and treated him respect which he responded to with rudeness and hostility. That bouncer is ruining the image of the bar and if I was the owner of manager I would never in my life have someone like that working for me. We then proceeded to various other bars where the bouncers greeted us with smiles, jokes and hospitality. What a disgrace Soho Residence is. Hope the owner sees this and learns that this bouncer is the reputation of his bar. Happy for the owner to speak to me and my friend more about this as we are both writing bad reviews.
