Having always driven past it on MacLeod Trail, we finally decided to give this place a visit for a quick lunch, and I'm glad we did. Space Robo Chicken has a very unassuming outward appearance, tucked away in a small commercial strip, and the entrance, at first glance, makes the establishment seem very small. But once you walk in you are fully immersed in a hip and stylish, and somewhat quirky restaurant, and it's all fun. The vibe is Asian urban street food x upscale fast food. There's a nice brick wall mural, led signage and great Korean style touches throughout. It's also very spacious and well lit, but I can picture an evening hang out here with friends, having drinks and fried chicken and other Korean fare. The restaurant's namesake is definitely unique and can be explained by the use of robots in the kitchen and as servers. The kitchen, which is viewable from the ordering counter, utilizes robotic arms to do the frying. It's a neat sight to see sleek industrial arms hanging from the ceiling, and frying up your order. And when that's done, a self guided robotic cart with a LCD face brings you your food while singing a little chime. It's great, and the kids loved it. As for the food, there are 2 distinct menus, the fast food menu and more mainstream Korean items. There were lots to choose from, so we tried the variety of fried chicken combo from the fast food menu and also the Kimchi fried rice from the other menu. Both were great, and very tasty. The chicken combo had 5 different flavours as well as a serving of crispy fries and also fried rice sticks with a cheese dip. The chicken was cooked well, juicy and crispy, and the flavours were excellent. I will say that spicy wasn't that spicy, so don't be afraid to go up a notch from your typical spiciness comfort zone. The fried rice was excellent as well, full of flavour, and not overly salty as some Kimchi dishes can get. We also tried some of the carbonated fruit drinks, and they were a bit on the sweet side but very refreshing, and paired well with the chicken. There is plenty of seating, so a great place for larger groups. The facilities are well kept, and very clean as well. Service was very friendly, with our server taking time to answer our questions about some of the items on the menus. Parking can be a bit dicey, as the area in front of the restaurant is quite narrow, but there are more spaces near the end of the building, and it's a short walk for wider parking spaces. Overall, a fun experience that personally, I can't wait to try at night. Good food, great atmosphere and reasonable pricing. Can't go wrong with that! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
