i spoke to a worker on the phone to ask about allergy options and they were very cold and abrupt with me. food was awfully late, came lukewarm. overall not an enjoyable experience, would recommend to order from other indian takeaways instead. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Dietary restrictions: as a coeliac, i felt as if the menu was not inclusive, very shocked to hear the rice and popadoms are not gluten free. i would recommend that they can put the allergen information on the menu to avoid having to call the workers.

It was my first time ordering from Spice, and the food was delicious. We had korma, rogan josh, and tikka masala — all of them were very fresh, full of flavour, and generously portioned with plenty of meat. I did have an issue with my order, but I have to say the staff were absolutely professional, understanding, and very helpful. We spoke on the phone a couple of times, and everyone I dealt with was friendly and accommodating. I’ll definitely order again, but I’ll do so directly rather than through JustEat, which caused the issue in the first place. Price per person: £20–30

I visited Spice Takeaway with my mum and we ordered a couple of dishes. The staff told us it would take around 10–15 minutes, but the food actually came out quicker than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the lamb biryani. It was nice and perfectly edible, but it felt like a fairly basic version of a biryani. I’ve had biryani from other places, such as Rickshaw, where the flavours felt a bit richer and more developed. So while it was good, it could have been improved slightly with a more complex recipe. My mum ordered a vegetarian dish and she really enjoyed it, so that was a positive. The staff were friendly overall, and the atmosphere felt relaxed. One slightly odd moment was when a staff member opened the door as we were leaving. It didn’t quite come across as a polite gesture - it felt a little bit like we were being ushered out, which was a bit strange. That said, it wasn’t a major issue. Overall, the food was decent and the service was friendly. I would go here again, but I do think some dishes, like the biryani, could be improved a little to stand out more. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes
