Overall, it was a really disappointing experience. The food was awful. The spring rolls tasted like they were from Aldi, and the meat was full of fat and very poor quality. We weren’t offered any drinks menus and had to ask several times before we were given one. Not where we told the soup of the day it was terribly ran The service was awkward and impolite throughout. When it came to my birthday cake, the waiter brought it over and said, “I’m not singing Happy Birthday,” which felt rude and completely ruined the moment. Overall, it was a very unwelcoming experience, and unfortunately I wouldn’t return or recommend it. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £40–50

Six of us went for Sunday lunch. Food was fabulous, yes, it’s on the expensive side but worth it for a special occasion. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £60–70

Managed to get a last minute table on my birthday and was made up as haven’t been for a few years. Was warmly greeted by Collette (front of house) and Adam (owner). The one of may things I love about Spire is the lack of pretentiousness and the family style welcome. Collette was a brilliant hostess and helped us with loads of info about the wine and food. Now the food. It was simply perfect. The confit duck is the best starter I’ve ever had. Full stop. The duck, the purées and the freshness of the pomegranates make for a perfect dish. Our mains were the chicken and the lamb. 2 stunning dishes beautifully but humbly presented. Both delicious. Un-fault-able. The strip of crispy chicken as to absolutely die for. The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked. Just an explosion of flavours. I don’t think I’ve ever had 2 courses so flavoursome or well cooked. Deserts were amazing too……sticky toffee pudding and Malteser chocolate cake. Again both wonderful….with a really nice touch of sending a happy birthday cheesecake. Really nice thing to do. So in conclusion, really well done Spire for a perfect early evening experience. Knowing the chefs also were asking whether we enjoyed our meal shows me this is a special restaurant.
