Great community-owned pub. Excellent food. Huge amount of beef in the Sunday roast, decent selection of beer, cider & wine. Parking on-site & next door. What's not to like?! Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Nice little pub with really good tasty food with a good selection to choose from and specials boards. Very welcoming and we always enjoy our meals there. Highly recommend! Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes

After being away from the area for a couple of years, I was genuinely shocked by the condition of the Stoke Canon Inn. This was once a lovely country pub, but unfortunately it now feels neglected and poorly maintained. The interior is extremely cluttered, with mismatched and excessive furniture filling every available space. The carpet is grimy and held down in places with tape — I wouldn’t even let my dog lie on it for fear of what he might pick up. There is also a damp patch on one of the walls with paint peeling away, and I dread to imagine what is causing it with the urinals directly behind the wall , can only assume environmental health would have a field day here. The men’s toilets are in clear need of a complete refurbishment. Customer service was equally disappointing. On a Monday evening, the lady behind the bar seemed far more interested in sitting and reading her book than serving customers. It felt awkward even asking for a drink. A word of warning to anyone visiting on a Sunday afternoon: don’t ask for a coffee unless you’re prepared for a look that could kill. It was fortunate the kettle took a while to boil, as she returned with a smile only after taking a few tokes on a vape behind the bar — completely unprofessional. The only positive was the group of friendly people sat outside in the smoking area. They made for good conversation and a few laughs, which was the only redeeming part of the visit. If I were on the committee responsible for running this place, I would be embarrassed by the current state of it. The Stoke Canon Inn used to be a wonderful country pub, but sadly I will be avoiding it from now on and cannot recommend it in its present condition. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
