Was told I wouldn't be allowed in because I was alone, and that's just their "policy." Visiting from the U.S. and was interested in seeing the drag show, which it turns out was canceled anyway. Looks like I lucked out. Pretty trashy dirty area to be turning people away, but clubs like that aren't my type of place anyway. Enjoy your feigned "exclusivity." lol (Definitely read the other reviews before you visit. I didn't and wish I had. Would have saved myself the time. Based on the other reviews it sounds like the "policy" changes to exclude whoever the bouncers want to. If you only want Scottish white straight people under 20, advertise as such. You're in a large, international city, and should expect "outsiders." One of many other examples of the U.K. being FAR less welcoming than I expected...)

I am writing to express my serious disappointment with my experience at Subway Cowgate. The way we were treated by the staff was completely unacceptable. We were refused entry without any clear explanation, and the attitude of the door staff was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation respectfully, they spoke to us in a way that felt hostile and disrespectful. Customer service and basic courtesy should be the minimum standard for any venue, and unfortunately this was far from that. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this club to anyone expecting professionalism or a welcoming atmosphere. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I waited at the front of the queue for nearly an hour, and was denied entry by the bouncer for “refusing to move out of the doorway and having no concern for their staff”. At the same time the manager was parked on double yellow lines across the road blocking ambulances, and they had the cheek to say we were being inconsiderate. I feel sorry for the dying people in the back of ambulances, who have to suffer consequences because of idiots like this.
