Decent venue, lively with live music/karaoke. Basic range of drinks served but served promptly. Nice terrace area to the front. Communal areas seemed in good order, however male toilets, very awkward to use. Could do with a new layout to improve. Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: £10–20

Absolutely disgusting customer service and rude attitude from the manageress yesterday when myself, my sister in law & nephew went in for a roast dinner yesterday. My sister in law ordered turkey with roast potatoes and gravy and asked if these were plain to which she was told they were. When her dinner was brought out it was clear that both the potatoes and gravy were seasoned with a selection of herbs. My sister in law can only eat plain unseasoned food. She took her dinner to the counter and was offered a refund or another meal. She opted for a cheaper meal of chicken nuggets and chips. Upon returning to our table she was then informed that she would have to pay for the meal again as the manager had said there was nothing wrong with the food. The manageress came to our table with a very rude and aggressive attitude from the beginning and refused to accept the reason for the return of the meal was valid, adding that all food everywhere is cooked in herbs and seasoning and she doesn’t have to list on her menu that her potatoes are seasoned. We said what if someone is allergic to herbs and she totally disregarded the question. My meal had arrived by then, however, my nephew and I did not feel comfortable staying and eating in a place where the manageress verbally attacked her customers. We left stating that a bad review would be left and were stopped by security who said ‘there was no need for that’. However, once the situation was explained, he was sympathetic and said he probably would have felt the same way. During this discussion, the nasty manageress came out and walked over to us which was totally unnecessary again verbally attacking us stating that we were not listening to her and letting her help us when actually she was the one who was not listening. She said that we had no business leaving a bad review for her business and she shouldn’t have to pay for everyone’s dinner and why should she pay for our turkey. Actually, her business took over £40 of our money for food and drinks which we did not get to eat. I have been coming to Brean for over 6 years and have eaten here before and the food has been lovely. I will never eat at the Sun Spot again due to this sorry excuse for a manager’s rude and aggressive attitude. She is totally unwilling to listen and attempt to resolve a customer’s legitimate complaints.
