Why I have given a 2/5 star rating is as followed below. Our group were greeted nicely and were quickly told we were going to be brought some starters (which we had no say in what they were or quantity) while we were left to decide our main meals. Three starters (dips and bread) were placed on our table without consent on what the starters were or even how many we wanted. They ended up charging me £100 for dips (£30 per starter and £12 for bread) without even consulting me on what starters the table wanted. So we were charged for food he made out to seem complementary – and that he chose for our table.
Three guests on my table ordered tap water for the table, glass bottles of water were brought and we were obviously charged (a very cheeky move when we did request tap water), by law every restaurant should provide tap water free of charge to guests. They just wanted to pump young students for money clearly.
The last thing, which is out of order and really confirms the full scam we went through, 3 of my friends ordered the "Chelo Kebab Soltani" which was £20.90 and we instead got charged £22.90 because they decided to change the meal to "Kebab Chenjeh and Koobideh" and decided to give more expensive food and charge us more.
If that wasn't enough, we got charged a 17.5% service charge (£63) which is so funny to me, it's like they couldn't pump us for enough money during the actual meal they had to up our bill even more at the end. Our bill came to over £400. This averaged to £40.00 per person for literally a plate of food (which were a good portion) three 4 dip starters (two of which were hummus and plain yoghurt) and some bread.
Don't get me wrong, the main course was lovely and we were treated nicely, but we genuinely got scammed here. This is a review to help you not get scammed. Please avoid all suggestions of food they give and don’t let them recommend or bring dishes you don’t want. Do not get any starters (not the £30 one especially), be prepared for a steep service charge and I recommend you check your receipt before you leave and pay.
My friend enjoyed her birthday, they did put some nice music on and took some nice photos of us (but not worth the 17.5% service charge!)
Please do not make the same mistakes we did and make sure you aren’t overcharged! I was extremely surprised when I saw the receipt, and this has deterred me from returning.
