The service was very carefree and simple. Pick a table and when ready you can go to the counter to order. I think we went on a day where they had trainees because 2 members of the staff were struggling to deliver the orders to the correct table. Regardless, they were very accommodating and kind.
The Teacup Kitchen located in the Northern Quarter (my favourite quarter) of Manchester is an award winning cafe and restaurant. Minor fun fact: they use the same WordPress theme as me, which is always a jarring thing when I visit a random website and see my own for half a minute.
I did find that the initial service at Teacup Kitchen was a bit of a letdown. Staff members running around aimlessly whilst customers were ready to be seated. At least some acknowledgement would have gone some way. Thankfully it did improve over time and I had a nice waitress for the course of the meal.
So as mentioned, I did try the cakes at all (wish I did now) and instead looked to the savoury dinner options. I wanted to try the Lancashire Hot Pot with Buttered Greens (£9.50). I didn’t really know what this dish was and the description provided as a tiny bit ambiguous.
The Lancashire Hot Pot is a stew containing mutton or lamb with onion, topped with slice potatoes. Not gonna lie, not my thing but I feel like The Teacup Kitchen did a good job of this dish. Not such a fan of the kidneys so it wasn’t a dish I readily ate up. Other dining options are also British, there’s kippers (?), Scottish smoked salmon, sausages and mash and rarebit (?). Impressive range for a cake shop. Which I absolutely need to try next time I found myself at The Teacup Kitchen.
