We went up with our dog and enjoyed the views. I had the medium beef dinner and my partner had scampi. Both meals were really tasty and the pub was very accommodating to swap the garden peas to mushy peas for my partner. The beef dinner was freshly cooked, the sausage stuffing was gorgeous as was the mash, yorkshire, gravy, beef and veg. The chef knows how to cook and its very reasonable priced. The chef was also very accommodating to our dog and brought her a bowl of beef, pork and gravy without charge! She scoffed it down, as we did with our meals. We would definitely recommend. Having visited Newstead Abbey and gardens, we used Google to find somewhere for lunch, decided on The Bird in Hand and we were not disappointed. Friendly locals, super service, wonderful food and an amazing view across the valley.
