We didn’t stay at the hotel, only used the restaurant once. This is located right in the centre of the village, so it’s easily accessible if in the area. It’s very nicely decorated, clean and the atmosphere is cosy. They serve traditional British meals. The food menu is not very large, but the drinks one is really extensive. We stopped for late lunch on a Sunday and had no reservation. They offered us an indoors table as there was one free when we arrived. The place was quite busy on the arrival, but some guests were only having drinks, not food as well. The mains were good portions and well-prepared. Also good value for money (£24 and £26 respectively). However, the starter was really expensive for what it was: £14 for 2 scallops and a teaspoon of chorizo! We were told that the starter was small before ordering, but we didn’t expect only 2 scallops for that price. The other downside was the waiting time to get the mains: we waited for almost 1 hour since we placed the order and we had to prompt one of the waiters to check on the order as it was taking too long. The mains arrived under 5 minutes after we asked for an update on them. The starter was served reasonably quickly. So be aware that there may be a considerable waiting time to get the food.

The castle inn at castle Combe is clean and friendly. We had a wonderful night there on our wedding evening. Like so much, we have booked in again
