Never a bad word to be said about the Codbox , very friendly staff, owner always got time for a chat. Food is reasonable, and big portions of chips, even the small bag is ample. Place is spotlessly clean. Sometimes you have to queue, but as the chippy is highly popular, what can you expect ? Give this place a go, you won't be disappointed. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £1–10 Recommended dishes: Fish and Chips, Large Cod and Large Chips, Large Sausage in Batter Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot, Free street parking Parking: About 8 cars can park at the front, or plenty of spaces in the street directly opposite Kid-friendliness: Always kids in there buying food and drinks Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

I decided to try Codbox for the 1st time approx 4.15 pm Tuesday 25 May, as it's within walking distance from my home and had high hopes judging by the nice clean appearance of the exterior and interior design and also a friendly welcome from the staff. Unfortunately the cod and chips I ordered seemed to contradict my previous hopes of a joyful tasty take away to be replaced by disappointment and gloom. On 1st hand appearance the chips seemed like a rather large and welcomed potion and thought it would be enought to share with my cocker spaniel Tommy. As I began my feast it quickly became apparent that in amongst the pale chips in front of me there was also a large amount of bitty pieces of micro chip waste which I would have thought would have usually ended up in the bin and not in amongst my food. My medium sized battered cod fish seems presentable at 1st but on closer inspection it became clear that my thoughts of a crispy delightful batter turned out to be anything but. A soggy underbelly batter was inseparable from the grease proof paper resulting in a scalped fish in front of me. I"m sure with a little love, care and attention when cooking and serving your food I suspect customers wound be happy to give a more favourable review of your services and would gain repeat orders. On reflection my 1st visit to your establishment wasn't exactly the highlight of my day but nevertheless little gains here and there can reap great reward. Good luck Codbox.
