We visited The Compass for the first time on the 16th April, and we will certainly be back! When we arrived, we were greeted by Jodie, she was so lovely, warm and welcoming We explained we didn't have a reservation, she advised that wasn't a problem and quickly showed us to a booth. I explained it was my birthday and I just love booths! She quickly took our food drinks and these arrived almost instantly Jodie gave us time to look at the menus, came back within a couple of minutes and asked if we were ready to order, which we were. I ordered the mushrooms for starter and chicken for mains. We didn't wait long for our starter, the mushrooms were piping hot and the best I've ever had! Then onto my main of chicken, again piping hot, delicious and I cleared my plate! Then onto a sharing board of desserts, which is a good idea as I couldn't decide what I wanted, the sharing board gave me a taster of apple crumble, chocolate cake with chocolate sauce inside and eaton mess, again all delicious!! A massive thank you to Jodie for making our night so enjoyable, she is an asset to The Compass! We will be visiting again soon. Better on the inside than I expected, outside needs a bit tlc so was pleasantly surprised as it was lovely, very spacious and well decorated. Sunday lunch was very good although we tried to order extras, pigs in blankets, however the app didn't have the extras available to order strangely but we ordered them at the bar. Would say the toilets need work also. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

It's been a long time since my last visit here. I'm really glad we did, it's food is really tasty and great value. I had their top end burger and it was terrific, my other half had sausage and mash and was incredibly impressed. We both finished with the triple chocolate brownie which was awesome. The atmosphere is great and my only issue being that the table was slightly sticky, could be is not been cleaned properly or the varnish is deteriorating. The service was on point and my order was taken faster than I could manage to order from the app. I will keep this at the top of my list of great places to eat :-) Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We’re so glad to hear that you and your partner both enjoyed your meals with us, the sausage and mash and chocolate brownie are a strong favourite amongst our staff and guests who visit us. I’m sorry to hear that your table was sticky. We do have several tables where the varnish is starting to deteriorate.
