AVOID! Stayed last night 11 June. When I booked I asked for hard standing as the weather was awful. I was told it was in the car park. When I asked did that mean cars would be in and out I was told no. What an absolute shambles the evening was with cars parking only a couple of feet from me. I basically paid £30 to sit in a car park. It's classed as a camp site with a welcome to our camp site board up-so why the cars. The law is there should be six metres between vans on a site. How are they getting away with this. Also did not use any of the facilities as my husband popped into the showers and said no way you're going to use them. No elsan for the emptying of chemical toilets. Disgraceful place.

If caravanning to get on site is very difficult you have to go steady not to scrape the caravan on the floor. There is 3 toilets and two showers only one had hot water working you have to empty your waist down the toilet there is no waste management setup had to fill water from a hose which was NOT food grade hose. They said there was entertainment on the website but there wasn't. The food was ok the chips what the children had was only just cooked nothing special but it's food. The owners were friendly enough and their bar staff. At £40 per night with electric there is a lot better sites and you are on a slant in a field but a lovely sight of Riber Castle and just outside the centre of Matlock in walking distance literally 3/4 minutes. Would I go again probably not Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

We booked a camp pitch at this pub. When we arrived we were presently surprised how nice the campsite field was. The facilities are basic but functional and as they don't change for children the £30 (none electric) site fee was OK. When I booked the man told me there was no need to book a table for food as Tuesdays were quiet. We went into the pub at 19:20 ( they advertise food until 8pm) and it was busy because they always have live music on a Tuesday. Food was then refused because they had had a large walk in and it was a very hot day so very hot in their kitchen. I explained we were on their campsite and had 2 hungry children and had been told there was no need to book a table when we booked our camp pitch just a couple of days before. In no uncertain terms we were told we were we were not going to get food and they really were not bothered when I questioned this was not good service when we were told there was no need to book.
