For many years it has been my hobby to review catering of every variety in many parts of the World and 'hits' on both Trivago and TripAdvisor are now in excess of 80.000. In order to be as positive as possible, I always tell the truth about my experiences. This sometimes means that I could be seen as being brutal when I highlight failures in food production, accommodation or service provision. Many years ago I learned the lessons that, in the catering field, nobody in their right mind deliberately produces something bad to sell nor can they be assessed on a single purchase or visit. So, to be as fair as possible, I make recommendations on a minimum of two calls. One of my first considerations when moving to Congleton, East Cheshire, some five years ago, was to find somewhere that could satisfy the need for a 'Fridayfishenchips' treat. All available outlets were checked and assessed and this culminated in my choice of Phil's Famous Chippy becoming my provider of the British Friday evening staple. What started off as a single portion has grown as many of my neighbours now take advantage of my generosity to order their meals from Phil's. The bill for this has often exceeded £60 and I have two large bags to carry home!! So, I am in a prime position to recommend that you call in to sample his fare because I have never been disappointed with anything which I have bought from him. A one man band. Open seven days a week. Expect delays on busy nights. In five years the ONLY price increase has been for fish as it is now in short supply. What other retail outlet do you know of could boast that???
