I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in my 6 years living in Canada at The Last Straw Ale House. The staff member named Barb was extremely rude and declined to serve me food simply because I did not show ID proving I was over 18. For the record, I did not order any alcohol or to play slots I only wanted food. Nowhere on the restaurant’s app, menu, or website does it say that ID is required just to order a meal. If that’s actually their policy, it should be clearly posted so customers aren’t blindsided at the door. Otherwise, it feels like an excuse to mistreat people. On top of that, Barb’s attitude was not only unprofessional, it came across as racist. I was even asked “bro g brown” in a way that felt completely inappropriate and discriminatory. No customer should ever be treated differently because of their background or skin color. This was the rudest treatment I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant in Canada. If management wants to enforce unusual rules like this, they should train their staff to communicate them politely and respectfully and without bias. I will not be returning, and I strongly warn others: if you want to be treated with dignity and respect, avoid this place.
