Hidden away, this speakeasy was a cool find. Entered a small library and then the secret door opened. Once inside greeted and taken to our table. The cocktails were good. The bar was quiet, as we went there early before dinner. I can imagine the atmosphere would be amazing late when it gets busier. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Went here in February and I’ve been meaning to write a review for some time now. This place is unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. This is probably the most overrated and underwhelming bar I’ve ever experienced. Yes, you get to press a buzzer and walk through a door that looks like a wall of books. Unfortunately once inside the drinks served are horrendously flavoured and hugely overpriced. For nearly £20 I was slowly served a drink which tasted as I imagine kerosene that’s been sat in a compost bin would delight the senses. I asked for a glass of water to wash the taste from my mouth which never arrived. My partner’s drink was sadly no better. Pretty much every drink on the menu contained bitters of some sort, uniformly boring. We made a swift exit, full of disappointment. This place is sadly just a gimmick, with poor service and awful drinks. If you are susceptible to such gimmicks you may be fooled to think it’s great but if you actually care for deliciously crafted drinks in a well curated space with warm atmosphere, don’t go to The Library. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
