I'm a regular at this place, but my recent visit was frustrating. Ordered two drinks, and the bartender started making one before realising she needed something from storage. She stopped mid-preparation and had to wait for a colleague to fetch the ingredient. Instead of using that time productively or engaging with customers, she spent the whole wait scrolling on Twitter on her phone and was noticeably rude about it. Hope they train their team a bit better on customer interaction. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Went here one Tuesday straight from work and had one of their half price pizzas. It was so big and tasty and well worth £9.00. Sat outside in the sun and it was perfect. I think the offer runs Sun-Wed or Thurs up to 5pm. Price per person: £10–20

The pricey Fruli strawberry beer is always a crowd-pleaser, and the en-suite pizza parlour does a mighty slice for lining the stomach as well. The Merchant never disappoints.
